Waltraud Sweeney, age 94 of Kirtland, passed away January 9th, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born May 8th, 1926 in Germany. She met and married her husband Wilbur after WWII in Germany. She moved to the US and lived in Kirtland for 68 years.

Waltraud was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, home maker and professional dog groomer. She was a well-known dog groomer in Kirtland for over 40 years. Grooming many generations of family pets. Until the time of her death, she had a loving pet by her side.

She is the loving wife of the late Wilbur Sweeney; dearest mother of Nona (Ronald) Stanich, Michael (Tracey) Sweeney and the late Marlen Kutscher; cherished grandmother of Paul (Amanda) Kutscher, Aaron Stanich and Shannon (Dylan) Barnhart, Ashley Sweeney, Michael (Taylor) Sweeney and Alexander Sweeney; great grandmother of Madison, Gabriella, Jakob and Benjamin.

Waltraud donated her body to further research at Case Western Reserve Medical School.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.

Donations can be made in her name to the Lake County Humane Society, 7564 Tyler Blvd., Number E, Mentor OH 44060.

The family would like to mention care givers and friends Anne Winters and Sabra Sonewald and the Hospice Team from Ohio Living for their loving care.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Jeff Monreal Funeral Services.

  1. My condolences to you all. I have such good memories of mrs. Sweeney. Our connection began with quota club at least 40 years ago. Then she would shop at Heinens where I work. She was always smiling. Such a sweet lady.
