Ronald W. Sweeney, age 81 of Mentor, passed away November 4th, 2020 at home surrounded by his family. He was born January 4th, 1939 in Cleveland to the late Leo and Genevieve Sweeney.

Ron was a U.S. Army Veteran, a proud member of the International Longshoreman’s Association Local 1317 for forty years before his retirement and a member of AA Tri County.

Ron loved fishing, playing cards, watching sports and spending time with his family. He took great pride in and enjoyed maintaining his yard.

Ron was the loving husband of the late Marlene L. Sweeney (nee Skelly); dearest father of Shannon Sweeney, Shane (Sheri) Sweeney and the late Michael S. Sweeney; beloved grandfather of Michael L. Sweeney, Jack Sweeney and Marlayna Sweeney; great grandfather of Liam Weber-Sweeney; brother in law of Jack (Sharon) Skelly.

The Sweeney family would like to invite you to graveside services at 12 Noon Saturday, November 7th, 2020 at All Saints Cemetery, 480 W Highland Rd., Northfield.

Family and friends are welcome to the Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM Saturday at Ridgewood Kitchen and Spirits, 9853 Johnnycake Ridge., Concord.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Jeff Monreal Funeral & Cremation Services.

  2. My heart is broken I’m going to forever miss you!! Ron you were a very kind hearted, hard working, inspiring person, who always made me laugh. I’m not only going to miss your contagious smile, but all our talks on gardening, camping trips, to all the amazing and hilarious stories over the years.

  3. Always a good friend, a good man. We mostly fished, played cards & laughed together. You will be sorely missed by a lot of people. RIP Ronnie
