Lucille Scholes (nee Hirko), age 86 of Mentor, passed away January 24th, 2023 at home surrounded by her family. She was born November 14th, 1936 in Cleveland to the late Joseph and Leona Hirko.
Lucille was a homemaker who devoted her life to her family. She also loved her family at AA and was a dear friend of Bill W. for the past 42 years. Her home group was Mentor Sunday at St. Bede’s. She also sponsored many women in the program and would help anyone in need. AA saved her life and in turn gave her a beautiful life with her husband, children and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her family and had a special bond with her children. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Lucille was the loving wife of 69 years to the late William Lloyd Scholes; beloved mother of William (Laura) Scholes; Lawrence Scholes, Loretta “Lori” (Tom) Weagraff, Scott (Tiffany) Scholes and Sue (Gerald) Bobb; cherished grandmother of eleven; great grandmother of sixteen.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM Saturday, February 4th, 2023 at Victory Baptist Church, 8911 Lakeshore Blvd., Mentor. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday at the church and will be officiated by Pastor Philip Hilditch. Private burial at a later date.
