Lena “Lee” Spackman (nee DelBrocco), age 92 of Willowick, passed away on April 7, 2021. She was born April 2nd, 1929 in Cleveland to the late Angelo and Leonora “Lennie” DelBrocco. She was the sister of the late Leonard and Raymond DelBrocco.

Lena lived a truly extraordinary life. She was a child of the Great Depression. She was the loving wife of the late Harry Spackman Sr; devoted mother of Sherry Lee Grove (William Means) of Marietta, Georgia; Harry (Christine) Spackman Jr. of Concord Twp., Ohio and Roxanne Lucci (Robert Walter) of Concord Twp., Ohio; mother in law of the late Don Lucci.

Lena grew up in East Cleveland where she graduated with honors from East High School, Class of ’47 and married her high school love, Harry “Irish” Spackman in 1948. Together they worked at multiple jobs to buy a home in Willowick to raise their family. While practicing frugality learned from the Great Depression, Lena always had class and style while on a shoestring budget.

In her fifties, Lena, fulfilled her lifelong dream of a four-year bachelor’s degree. She graduated from the Monte Ahuja College of Business at Cleveland State University in 1984.

Always active, Lena was a ten-year plus volunteer at Lake West Hospital, played golf, racquetball, bowled and figure skated. She instilled the love of physical activity and perseverance in her children and grandchildren. She was the loving grandmother of Ian (Barbara) Sidaway, Adam (Nicole) Sidaway, Kristy (Christopher) Fellenstein, Michael Harry (Lorna) Spackman, Nathan (Jamie) Spackman and Heather (Scott) Madden.

Great-grandmother of Kaeleigh, Isabella, Nicholas, Emily, Meagan, Nathan, Zachary, Marisa, Tyler, Mason, Brantley, Scarlett, Mackenzie and Jack.

Recently confined to a wheelchair, Lena never complained and always made the best of her situation by reading, playing cards and watching Turner Classic Movies.

Gratitude goes to Ashley Thompson, director of Danbury Mentor, for her kindness and help in making Lena’s last years of life comfortable and happy. We would also like to thank those team members at Danbury Mentor who went out of their way to show their affection and provide extra comfort for Lena.

Private services will be held at All Souls Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Jeff Monreal Funeral Services.

Our sincere sympathy to Sherry, Chip and Roxanne. Loved our Aunt Lee (your mother)! She always had stories to tell and thought the world of her children. We hope to try and keep up your mom with game playing and Lona with her line dancing! She always kept herself busy. We will miss her dearly. Hope the memories you have of your mother will help comfort you at this sad time. She will always be with you.
    Love and hugs….Lona and Guy

You inspired me to go to college at age 40 by demonstrating that it’s never to late to earn a degree. Thank you! Now you are joined with Uncle Harry again for eternity!

    Rest In Peace Aunt Lee!
