Joleen and her family spent many days at the Chautauqua Institute. Enjoying the out door masses, plays, concerts and seminar’s, followed by ice cream at the café’! They created a place for the family to gather, where lifetime memories were made. Family gatherings continued at Tim and Karen’s summer home that overlooks Lake Chautauqua. On the days in between, you would find Joleen and Mike swinging on the swing at Tim and Karen’s Mentor home. Joleen loved to watch the birds and variety of wildlife, which became her favorite thing to do in the last few years.

She was the loving wife of 66 years to the late Michael Patete; dearest mother of Michele Patete, Michael (Stephanie Bennett) Patete III, Timothy (Karen) Patete, Robert Patete, and Margo(Daryl) Williams; loving sister of Dodie (Chick-deceased) Ottman, Jim (Sally) Duffy, and the late Pat (Patty) Duffy; loving grandmother of Jennifer, Melissa (Jim), Maggie (Matt), Melinda (Karl), Laurie, Ryan (Ashley), Chad (Sam), Alisha (Jeff), Chris (Jessie), Vince (Jamie), Abby (Dan) and Claire (Sal); great grandmother of many, and one soon to be great great granddaughter (Giavanna); niece of Laura (Bill) Epaves; Joleen was the Aunt of many nieces, nephews, great great niece; great great nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, in care of Joleen A. Patete, to David Simpson Hospice House, 300 East 185th st. Cleveland, Ohio 44119. Donations will go toward a bench that overlooks the lake for Joleen and Mike.

Joleen’s friends and family knew her as a strong woman, always a caregiver, her faith solid, kind and gentle soul, with a beautiful smile! She extended love to everyone.

Mom and Dad’s song was Earth Angel. They are now our Heavenly Angels.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, August 28th. Mom “Marmie”, you were the backbone of our family. We love you and miss you so very much.

  1. This is just beautiful, as was she. It’s hard to believe that they’re both gone, but comforting that she’s with Uncle Mike, and so many others. She’s back to her old self and able to enjoy all of the indescribable joys of heaven. Love you all and sending prayers.

  3. Jim- Joleen and I were one year apart. I consider her the Mother Therese of our family.at twelve years old she started helping handicapped children at The Rosemary Home. She spent her life looking after others. She was my beautiful Sister, inside and out.

Joleen and I worked together for so many years. To this day, it was the best time ever. Joleen ALWAYS had a smile on her face and OMG the patients just loved her. As we all did. All my love and sympathy to you Margo.
