Dolores “Dee” M. Velichka

Funeral Mass for Dolores M. (McGee) Velichka, 76, of Eastlake, a longtime child care provider and Catholic school aide, will be 10 a.m. Friday, at St. Justin Martyr Church, 35781 Stevens Blvd., Eastlake.

Mrs. Velichka passed away Oct. 22, 2015, at Hospice of the Western Reserve in Cleveland surrounded by her family.

She was born Sept. 12, 1939, in Cleveland.

She was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and dear friend to all. Mrs. Velichka was a devoted member of St Justin Martyr Church, where she was a Eucharistic minister, member of the prayer shawl group, Eucharistic adorer and member of the festival committee. She was very artistic and loved cooking, baking and crocheting, and had a profound love of children. She cared deeply for her own children and grandchildren, but also opened her home as a childcare provider and later as a Catholic school aide. “Mrs. Dee” cared for every child as if they were part of her own family.

Survivors are her beloved husband of 51 years, Bernhardt R. “Bud” Velichka; children, Jeff (Lynn), Chris (Melinda), Jill (Jacin) Barnes and Ron (Anne); grandchildren, Emily, Adam, Grace, Michaela, Cameron Barnes, Donovan Barnes, Bailey and Riley; brother, Jim R. McGee; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William R. and Helen McGee; grandchildren, Cy James Velichka; and sister, Judith McGee.

Family will received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at JEFF MONREAL FUNERAL HOME, 38001 EUCLID AVE., WILLOUGHBY. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
