Compton T. McKenzie, age 87 of Mentor, passed away December 24, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. He was born August 30, 1931 in New Town City, Guyana to the late Mordacai and Rhoda Louis McKenzie.

Compton retired from Freightliner Corporation as Director of Safety & Personnel.

He played soccer in Portland Oregon and then was a referee for over 30 years. Later became President of the Portland Soccer Association. For 15 years he taught people English who became American citizens, Member of the Holiday Park Church of God bowling league for 14 years.

Compton is the loving husband of the late Eugenie Mckenzie; dearest father of Cynthia Brookins (nee McKenzie), Tedd McKenzie, James (Sheehan) McKenzie; grandfather of Avery McKenzie and Isaiah McKenzie; brother of Gordon (Rhozie) Mckenzie and the late John McKenzie and Doreen McKenzie; brother in law of Jean McKenzie; and uncle to many.
Memorial Services will be held at 11AM, Saturday January 26th, 2019 at Zak Funeral Home, 6016 St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland OH 44103.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Jeff Monreal Funeral Services.

    OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU AT THIS SAD TIME . I REMEMBER MEETING YOUR DAD WHEN HE WOULD COME IN AND SEE YOU AT SEARS BACK WHEN WE WORKED TOGETHER AT THE CLACKAMAS TOWN CENTER !

    I worked with Compton for many years and he was one of the finest men of integrity & excellent character I’ve ever had the honor to know. He was extremely kind and supportive of me in some trying times. I’m a better person for knowing him. I’m very saddened by your loss.
